The Art of Mending | February 2
In this world obsessed with the cycle of consumerism, slow fashion is more important than ever. Reduce your impact on the environment (and on your wallet!) by mending items you already own. We’ll teach you mending skills that you can use to fix up vintage finds and to keep the items in your closet in good condition for years to come.
But don’t keep your mending a secret, make it a design feature by learning the art of visible mending! You’ll learn embroidery and Japanese boro stitching techniques to mend, reinforce, and add visual impact to your existing wardrobe. This includes basic hand-sewing techniques, how to create stitch patterns, and how to properly and beautifully reinforce clothing.
Bring a damaged item you’d like to repair or just something you’d like to embellish and we’ll work on it in class! We’ll send you home with a needle, thread, and a few other treats so you can keep your mending going after class.
Saturday, February 2, 2-4pm
All classes take place at The Works, 151 12th Ave, unless otherwise noted. All ticket sales subject to our Terms and Conditions.
